In general, commercial timber sales may require a sale area size of at least 15 to 30 acres to obtain interest from a timber buyer.
Much depends on the species composition, quality of timber and access for commercial timber harvesters. Fifteen acres of valuable white oak stave logs should justify a commercial timber harvest. For a lower quality pulpwood stand, you may require 30 acres or more.
