Matt Dowdy, ACF, started Dowdy’s Forest & Land Management, LLC in January of 2007 as a full service forest consulting firm with an eye towards thinking outside the box. Over time, I’ve realized that the wildlife & recreation objectives were just as important as timber production & that there were many other landowners who felt the same way that he did. This is the influence that he uses to run his business.
Matt is a 1992 graduate of Virginia Tech with a B.S. in forest business. He has over 32 years of forestry consulting experience, and remains an active leader and lynch pin in many forestry and natural resource associations, including the Association of Consulting Foresters, the Society of American Foresters, the Virginia Forestry Association, The Virginia Forest Education Foundation, the Quality Deer Management Association, and the American Tree Farm System. In his spare time, he likes to hunt, fish, cook BBQ, watch Hokie football and collect vintage forestry & forest fire items.
